Greenpeace

The Greenpeace Foundation was founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1971 by a group of activists who wanted to make the world more peaceful. Their first goal was to stop the testing of nuclear devices in Alaska. Today Greenpeace is an organization that focuses on environmental issues.

Their head office is located in Amsterdam and they have several different regional offices all around the world. In total, Greenpeace is active in 42 countries.

Greenpeace’ official aims are as the following:
Greenpeace is a global campaigning organization that acts to change attitudes and behavior, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace by:

  • Catalyzing an energy revolution to address the number one threat facing our planet: climate change.

  • Defending our oceans by challenging wasteful and destructive fishing, and creating a global network of marine reserves.

  • Protecting the world’s remaining ancient forests and the animal, plants and people that depend on them.

  • Working for disarmament and peace by reducing dependence on finite resources and calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons.

  • Creating a toxic free future with safer alternatives to hazardous chemicals in today's products and manufacturing.

  • Supporting sustainable agriculture by encouraging socially and ecologically responsible farming practices

The Greenpeace Organization gets its money through charitable foundations, as well as contributions from different financial supporters.

The organization has been very successful since its founding in 1971. Over the years, they have directly helped the world becoming a better place for people, animals and Mother Nature herself. I will post a link with some of their victories:

Within the organization they use English as their main language, but every country that is a member of Greenpeace has their own webpage. So you can find a Greenpeace webpage in almost 40 different languages.
